Teacher Only Session for information about the PHTM in-house 1 hour lesson

In house lesson: Identity/Migration: Polish children arrive in 1944

You are warmly invited to a Teacher Only Session for the Learning Outside The Classroom, PHTM educational programme called Stefania For Schools based on the book Stefania’s Dancing Slippers by Jennifer Beck and illustrated by Lindy Fisher.

Primary / Intermediate teachers and home educators are invited to visit the Polish Museum for a presentation, in preparation for student visits in 2018 . Experience the ‘Stefania for Schools’ lesson called Identity/Migration: Polish children arrive in 1944 with slideshow, objects and artworks, linked to the NZ school curriculum.

These free sessions are also available on request at times and dates for your school team.

Come try something new and create with paper and scissors.

Wycinanki or cut-outs is a traditional Polish folk art

This adult group usually meets on the first Friday each month, we cut various types of designs, tree of life, roosters, flowers and circles.

$10pp. A warm welcome awaits you

New members are welcome any time as we work at our own pace, materials and designs provided. Coming for the first time? Please ring me.

Polish decorative paper cut-outs belong to the most beautiful in the world. Traditionally they were made by hand, without drawing the design first, cutting out using sheep-sheering scissors.

  • New members can watch a short presentation
  • Designs based on the Lowicz and Kurpie regions of Poland
  • Beginners workshop is also available throughout the year, gather your group together and make a booking, a date and time to suit you.
  • Ideal class for children’s birthday parties too! 8 years plus, can be available on some Saturdays

Celebrate a Polish Christmas workshop 2019

Starts at 2pm and runs for 2 hours till 4pm

Celebrate a Polish Christmas with paper and wool decorations.

  • Make wool spiders and paper chains with a twist for your own Christmas tree.
  • Create your own unique paper Christmas star to hang
  • Taste the Polish ginger biscuit called Pierniki
  • Learn some Christmas Eve traditions, watching the first star and Wigilia supper

This workshop is available for adults and/or children during the weeks leading to Christmas.

Lecture: ‘Hidden Treasure and Resistance’ Adult Presentation

Discover Polish archaeologists’ work in Poland and around the world, from the Iron Age Biskupin Fort, Katyn Forest and Warsaw to Egypt and South America.

Come and unearth links between World War 2, Resistance and Polish New Zealanders.

Adults only, contains some sensitive content

Free off-street parking, seating, restrooms and wheelchair access available.Museum is open 10am to 4pm., if you’d like to look around after the presentation.

Design your own Polish Easter egg in this creative workshop for ages 7 to adult.

Create a colourful Easter Palm from paper. What is smigus-dyngus? It’s something fun!

Watch an educational presentation to find out about Polish Easter traditions.

Enjoy the Easter displays within the museum, then take home your own unique Easter craftworks.

All children to be accompanied by an adult please.

Cost $8.00 per person, including adults. Materials are provided.
